A finnish gunman killed 10 people at a college in the town of Kauhajoki before he later set the school on fire and shot himself in the head.
Media reports named the gunman as Matti Juhani Saari, 22, a trainee chef at the vocational college. He shot 10 people at the college, where 9 of them died instantly. The last one died at a hospital due to the life-crucial injuries. Matti shot himself in the head and were taken to a hospital where he later died. The gunman, dressed in black and wearing a ski mask, was seen entering the building with a large bag at about 11 o’clock. A couple of moments later he opened fire.
Witnesses claim that Matti seemed to be very well prepared, before the shooting. They noticed especially all the magazines he had in his bag, but surprisingly enough he walked calmly all the time. But when he first opened fire he constantly kept on shooting without a stop. The police claims also that he tried to set the school on fire, but luckily the flames was under control within a small matter of time.
The suspect posted a video of himself on the internet already in last week where he was firing a gun. He said also things like “you will die next”. As a result of this, he was reported to the police. When the police got aware of this they called him in for an interview and spoke with him about it. However, the police officer on duty decided there was no need to terminate his gun licence. Many people mean that this was a wrong decision and an investigation will now try to determine whether mistakes were made or not. And if the policemen made a mistake they are probably going to get fired.
.
This attack is also very similar to the shooting spree at a Finnish school last year which left nine dead, including the gunman, who had also posted an internet video. And therefore many people think that Matti got the idea from him. He also bought his gun in the same store.
The prime minister has already expressed condolences to the families of the victims and declared this Wednesday as a day of national mourning…
